LOVE RAIN

SUMMER / 2021
EXHIBITION

Inspired by Yi Sang’s 1931 poetry collection Love Rain was developed as part of a group exhibition exploring speculative design for a future in which humans migrate beyond Earth. Each project proposed an interactive device that preserves or reconstructs an experience from everyday life on Earth.

The work translates an intimate social gesture into a responsive environmental system. Centered on the act of sharing an umbrella, the installation uses heart rate data to choreograph the movement of the umbrella and the direction of falling water. When one participant’s BPM rises, the umbrella tilts toward them while the rain shifts in the opposite direction, making the more emotionally affected participant more exposed to the rain.
